More and more directors and Cinematographers are being asked to shoot the Stills along with the video in today’s evolving marketplace. Stills and video, separate entities until just a few years ago, are no longer. More and more Ad agencies are combining the two.
Agency Merin out of San Diego, asked just that, and engaged 8th st. productions. 2 shoot day, 2 locations in Los Angeles. For this shoot to be successful, pre planning was key. how much time for Video at each location with each vignette? How much time for Stills?
This project had a lot of macro photography/cinematography elements. Close ups on eyes. Every actor that came to act in their scene was also asked to be apart of many macro eye shots. Special riggs were created to keep heads from moving and still allowing the cameras to get their shots. the Doggycam was employed for both video and stills.
The stills were shot with the Nikon 850 with all Nikon Glass, the video ws shot with the Red 8k Helium for maximum resolution for post moves and pulling stills. The Video was shot with the zeiss Macro set, and the Fuji Premista Zoom lenses again for maximum resolution and resolving power.
Great planning and execution, the shoot was a great success for all involved.
